Visitor Comments: I have been checking this link in different moments (as long as my job doesn't interfere :stickout and was reading the magnificent stories of those who had the chance to meet him and the thrills goes along my spine.

I always had a crush on him and during the 80's around my 10 y.o., Chilean TV used to broadcast some of his films. I've discovered so many facts and songs I didn't hear before so it would be great to keep in touch with others.

I was young, but it was a sad day. I am "rediscovering" his talents and love the Live at The Copa album someone kindly posted on youtube.com It's impossible to find a true album to buy though.......but I'll enjoy it on youtube. Visitor Comments: in february of 1959, while playing bass with the seattle combo known as the frantics, we had the honor of accompanying bobby in performance at parker's ballroom. bobby had come with his pianist dick berke. he was very pleased with our band and we all went to the recording studio of joe boles the next day, where we recorded dream lover and bullmoose, both written overnight for the recording session. i believe the demo version on the rhino boxed set is oneyu take of what we recorded that day.

Visitor Comments: I too had rheumatic heart valve issues and suffered a blood infection that necessitated valve replacement recently. I spent the vast majority of my teens and twenties constantly worried I would die soon and trying to make it big as a musician (singer and drummer). Alas, I could never break big in music and turned to music and entertainment law, where I am working hard to find success.

As a 33 year old, I didn't have a ton of familiarity with Bobby Darin as a person, having only heard his songs from time to time when I obsessively listened to oldies stations as a child. While researching my illness, Bobby's name kept coming up, so I read several biographies of the man and have devoured every piece of Bobby Darin audio and video I can find, as I feel a sort of kinship with him. I particularly enjoy seeing significant locations in his life and comparing them with the places I've been. It really struck me to realize that, as a 9 year old visiting LA, my mother and I got off at the wrong bus stop and walked right by Bobby's star on the walk of fame and by Capitol Records building en route to our nearby room. I also stayed just blocks from one of Bobby's residences in Las Vegas and have traveled to many of the same cities and right by some of his old haunts without knowing it at the time. It's as if fate was trying to give me a hint that I had a friend in Bobby and I just wasn't perceptive enough to see it until I was very ill.

Despite having never met him, I consider Bobby Darin to be a great friend, and perhaps one of the very few people who might have actually understood my life and been able to offer support and encouragement. Despite not being with us, I still think he did that for me, and I am eternally grateful to the person running this site for providing such a wonderful resource.
